Hooray! And, first, I have to apologize to those of you who follow this blog. I haven't been back to it in a while and I also didn't realize that anyone had posted comments. So, please don't feel neglected or snubbed. I'm just not technologically savvy! That aside, I thank you for your concern and friendship. We're doing well. Grandpa's death was not unexpected and really more of a blessing, for him more than anyone. He had a do not resucitate (sp?) order and his wife and children made the decision to not treat him with antiboitics when he got pneumonia. There was so little left of Grandpa at the end, that's it's better he's gone. He can be much more useful and happy where he is now!
On a happier note, I'm excited to get away this weeknd. We're going to stay at Bear Lake over Sunday. It's become a yearly tradition to get away SuperBowl weekend. It's not really about the game, but more of a family time together. Break up the winter humdrums.
And while I'm thinking about it, Aviendha's walking!!! Yup, taking steps alone across the kitchen on Ginny's birthday was the first. She still prefers to scoot/crawl around. But sooner than I would like she'll be running around with her siblings! She's also making a good attempt at talking. She says, uh-oh,all done, Daddy, Sharra, eat, no, ow, and she knows, but doesn't say all the words relating to treats (i.e. candy, marshmallow, cookie, ice cream, snack).
One more thing, and I apologize for the disjointedness of this post (Sam and Ginny are playing with bouncy balls in the kitchen and I keep having to stop to help them fetch them from under the computer, behind the fridge, etc.--hard to keep things organized in my mind), yesterday I was checking email and facebook and Sam wanted a snack. I told him to chose something and put it on the counter. He chose his favorite, cream of wheat. Well, instead of putting it on the counter he ran across the kitchen to show me. As he got about two feet from me, he tripped over a chair leg and the open box of cream of wheat showered me, the keyboard, the table, the printer, everything in this corner. He froze and the look on his face read "I'm dead meat!" "S-sorry, Mom" was all he mananged to say and I cracked up. I couldn't help it. What a mess! Well, then he was mad at me for laughing, of all things. "Mom, don't laugh!" ke kept asking over and over. Finally, when I could control myself, I asked if he'd rather have me get mad and yell or laugh. He thought about it for a minute and said, "Neither--it's not nice to laugh or yell." What a character!

Family is important!
Grandpa's funeral was great! Sad, of course, but wonderful to see so many relatives and friends from far away. We were able to spend a lot of fun time with Adam's older sister family who came form Colorado. The kids were all thrilled to have a sleepover with their cousins! We got to spend some fun times in very close quarters with Adam's family in his parents townhome.
The family viewing for Grandpa was Monday night. It was uncanny how closely Grandpa resembled Sam. Trade Grandpa's blue eyes for Sam's brown and, well that's probably why Grandma Great is always telling us what a handsome boy Sammy is. :) It will be fun to watch Sam grow up and see how close the resemblance remains.
Grandpa Great was in the Navy so he had military honors performed graveside. That was neat to witness. After the 21-gun slute, Sam turned to us and practically yelled, "Whoa! That was AAWWSome!"
He was quite a little character throughout the very long day. He drew more than one half-concelaed smile or chuckle from fellow mourners. Right before the service was held in the chapel, all family gathered for a family prayer and the closing of the casket. Adam's Uncle gave a very touching prayer. Right after he finished and in that little silence after amen, Sam burst out with "That was a very long, long, long prayer!" And later when we got out at the cemetary Sam was walking past gravestones with Adam, stepping one foot on each as he passed. As his foot would hit, he'd say "He's dead!" And then on the next, "This one's dead. They're all dead!" all the way to where Grandpa's remains would be laid to rest. Finally, at the luncheon after all of this, was getting food plates for everyone while Adam watched the kids at the table. i was half way down the food table and Sam yells across the cultural hall, "Mom what's taking SO long?! I am starving!!!" I considered bringing him back a plate of just plain salad--hee hee.
No, they really did a fantastic job of being on their very best behavior. Grandma Great told me they were wonderful and she was very glad we all came--family is important!

Half SNOW day!
Wouldn't you know it! I finally decide to jot a few thoughts down and Ninna's awake and screaming in her crib. Well, she's going to have to wait a minute because I don't know when I'll be able to get back to this. Our holidays were really good. Full of good family and friends and fun times together here at home. I'll go into it all in detail later (maybe--see above). We're back to the regular routine now, well sort of. Sharra had to come home from school half day today as the main bldg's heat wouldn't work. It was actually really nice as she's not wanted to go back and be away from us and we weren't really ready to have her go back and be away from us either. :)
It's been snowing since about 10 am this morning and I keep thinkning about going out to clear the driveway. It's hard to work up the energy though when the snow still flies!
I just wanted to state for the record that I have a couple of new years resolutions. Adam and I set up a new budget and this year we're going to stick to it!!! I even have our draft for Jan. taped to the fridge. Wish me luck!
My other one is to get all my projects around the house completed before starting anything new, that especially includes my scrapbooking efforts. Mandy, if you ever read this, I'm so in for the neighborhood scrapping--call me and we'll go together!
Ok, one more, (Aviendha's really howling now!) family prayers every morning and we're going ot kneel to say them, morning and night. I know that one sounds a little silly, but we got out of the habit when I was pregnant and we've just been lazy. No more excuses! On our knees every time!
Happy New Year all, and I'm comming Nay, Nay!
